Frequently Asked Questions

Who are these retreats for?

These retreats are for men ready to push themselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually. You don’t need to be an expert backpacker — you just need to bring honesty, courage, and a willingness to step into the wild.

Do I need backpacking experience?

No. All essential gear is provided, and you’ll be guided step by step on how to use it. You’ll learn everything from how to pack, set up camp, filter water, and cook in the backcountry.

What gear is included?

We provide all the essential backpacking equipment: pack, tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, pillow, camp kitchen, water filtration, trekking poles, bear protection, headlamp, journal, and more. All you need to bring are your clothes, footwear, and personal items.

How physically demanding is this?

Expect 20 miles of trekking over 4 days with about 8,000 feet of elevation change. The pace is steady, with time for breaks, reflection, and group practices. If you can hike a few miles with a weighted pack, you’ll be ready.

What kind of food is provided?

We provide freeze-dried backpacking meals (lunches and dinners, with flavor choices available) and coffee each morning. You’re welcome to bring your own snacks and breakfast items if you prefer.

Where do we meet?

You’ll fly into Fresno International Airport or Los Angeles International Airport. Transportation is provided from the airport to the hotel, to the trailhead, and back. Lodging is included the first and last night in a shared hotel room.

How many men are in each retreat?

Retreats are capped at 8 men to keep the group intimate and connected. This size allows for deep conversation, strong brotherhood, and safe support on the trail.

What happens during the day?

Each day combines physical trekking, group exercises, and individual reflection. We’ll practice morning routines (yoga, breathwork, light calisthenics), share meals, and hold space for real, vulnerable conversations around the fire.

Do you offer private or custom retreats?

Yes. Coaches, therapists, and group leaders can bring their own clients on a customized retreat. We provide all logistics, gear, food, and safety support so you can focus fully on leading your group.

What if I’ve never camped before?

Perfect. This retreat is designed to teach you the basics and support you every step of the way. You’ll return home with the skills and confidence to continue backpacking on your own.

Is it safe?

Yes. We provide bear protection, water filtration, and all safety gear, and every retreat is led by an experienced guide with wilderness first aid knowledge. Each participant is also covered by an insurance policy that includes life and search-and-rescue protection.

What will I gain from this retreat?

You’ll gain practical wilderness skills, physical strength, and confidence — but more importantly, you’ll gain clarity about yourself. You’ll leave with tools to integrate the lessons of the wild into your relationships, your work, and your life as a man.
